The official LG Italy Facebook has finally given the timeline for the Android 2.3 Gingerbread update for the LG Optimus One P500 phone.
The LG Optimus One P500 is getting the 2.3 Gingerbread update in July. 
Ready to upgrade to Gingerbread? The new version of Android for mobile will be available from July for the holders of Optimus One. Some of the latest outing with upgraded graphics and features.
And LG Italy has posted a teaser video of 2.3 Gingerbread running on LG Optimus One P500 as well.

Wow this sure is BS. LG announced the update to be out by may and making use wait for 2 more months is just bull! The phone was released last October so why does it take this long?! If this is true i’ll be upgrading to a phone that’s not like LG or Samsung that keeps on delaying and holding their updates. Up yours LG!
I bought mine 2 months ago because I thought the upgrade was going to come at the end of May, but now they’ve started playing Samsung’s trick.
Well. they’re both from the same country, so what do you expect?
Got an email form LG today ( 24th May 2011 ).
My question was : Will to soon to be released update for the LGP500 ( Optimus One ) be an update to Android 2.3.4 ?

There are currently no plans to further update the P500 past Android 2.2 at this point. We recommend sporadically checking the LG blog at http://www.lgblog.com. This is where we will first show any information regarding further updating our handsets.

This might be a stupid question but Iam not familiar with smartphones and thinking of getting the optimus one as my first smartphone. Is it possible for users with the optimus one that’s runs 2.2 to update to 2.3 (when it comes out) or 2.3 is only available on devices that is already set to 2.3?

I emailed Lg twice regarding the situation and twice I got no reply. I asked for a full refund as lg stated I was getting gingerbread at the end of May. I got no reply concerning that. This phone and company is a bunch of bullshit.

For those that think HTC is any better, just be advised that just to get 2.1 took HTC nearly a year longer on the Magic than other devices, they kept saying that it was sent to Rogers and Rogers disapproved and Rogers said HTC wouldn’t sign off on it… they are all the same, want to make sure they get it right, plus to make sure that providers can lock down what they want before they push an update.

Is this a sure release confirmation? Maybe it’s another one of LG’s promise that the Gingerbread update will be released May, but look what month is it now? I’m beginning to think what they said months ago was just to appease the customers and to bring in more sales. Tsk, tsk. ..
Got Gingerbread (2.3.3) this morning via my LG PC Suite. Based in the UK. Phone is P500 on T-Mobile. Works a treat.

Well this whole 2.3 update thing is a joke.
First it’s April then its May, Then June and now July … I see a pattern forming.
Maybe this “Official LG Italy Facebook” thing ( and all the other “Official” reports ) are not what they seems !
Well on the good side – LG Have ( on their US Site ) Que Drum Roll~~~~ comfirmed that an update is coming and have apologised for any confusion about the update …
Time will tell i guess !

Note: All the other pervious “So Say” release dates “Have Not” been given out by LG !!!.

So it would seem that the July thing ( and all the other pervious so say release dates )
are a big load of BS regarding the “Official” UK release of the 2.3 Gingerbread Update for the LG Optimus One.
Updating with “Unofficial” updates will invalidate your warranty/guarantee for your Phone .

LG told me that in the UK at least only T-Mobile customers will be allowed the 2.3 update and even they are only just being allowed it now (end of september)
LG have lost what used to be amazing customer services looks like imma gunna change my phone to something else
I upgraded my LG optimus one from 2.2 Froyo to the 2.3.3 Gingerbread, but have lost numerous s/w. I tried to install the old s/w back but it seems that the installer is no more to be found on my handset. I’m really unhappy and would like to fallback.
Hey Sunil…you will not be able to down grade to froyo…but I guess the service center guys can do this.Try contacting your local lg service center.

i have updated my optimus 1 to 2.3.3 a week ago…
but now i am realising that 2.2 was best…
as 2.3 has some issuues like…
-poor battery backup
-torrent not working properly
-sometimes it get overheated
-reduce performance
-some apps show lagg…which were working fine on froyo…
so to all optimus users…i ll suggest that it works best on 2.2.2

Hey…I wanted to update my LG OPTIMUS ONE P500 to Android 2.3. But by reading above comments I feel like “Thank God I didnt do it”.
Does any one is in the favour of updating it to 2.3 Gingerbread. I read lots of bad comments but can I have some good comments also from the user who has already updated it..so that I can change my mind.?????
