Welcome the unlimited storage Yahoo! Mail

Yahoo! Mail LogoOne and a half months, after Yahoo! first announced that it was going to give unlimited space to all Yahoo! mail users, it has finally started rolling out the change to all accounts. Yahoo! made the announcement today on its blog.

As promised, we’ve started to roll out unlimited email storage to Yahoo! Mail users worldwide today. When it hits your account, you’ll notice the storage meter has disappeared — meaning, you just don’t have to worry about deleting old messages ever again!

Unlimited storage space coupled with the new Yahoo! Mail Beta interface seems to be Yahoo!’s attempt at retaining existing users and also attract new ones. Yahoo! mail definitely seems to be feeling the Gmail heat. Gmail with 2+ GB space and a cool new interface weaned away a lot of Yahoo! mail users.

But still, Yahoo! offers a measly 10 MB attachment limit. So if you want to store that large file you need to split into 10 MB files. As for Gmail, I think its time to get rid of that ticking space counter on the login page.

Yahoo! Mail to offer unlimited email storage space

The space limits seem to be getting blurred. Yahoo! Mail has announced that it is going to provide unlimited email storage starting in May 2007. And this applies to everyone, no invites required.

If I am not wrong, GMail will soon follow suit and the ticking storage counter will be a thing of the past.

What a progress ! GMail started the storage space challenge and now Yahoo! has beat Google to the finish line. It will be the first global email company to give unlimited inbox space to its users. :)
